Scammers and thieves - stay away from Venture Van Lines

Here's how it will go...You will get a very helpful, cordial agent on the phone and give a description of your moving needs. No problem moving your items, and here isthe price estimate. You will be pleased that the price is very competitive. So, you think "let's do this!" You schedule a date with them and they show up at your location. Immediately there are problems. Oh, this is more stuff than appears in your contract. Oh, we're not prepared to pack those items. Blah, blah, blah. Then comes the offer to go ahead with the move. But the kicker is that it will be many hundreds more than you bargained for. Oh, and they don't accept anything but cash so if you don't have it immediately accessible you can get on the CashApp and get hosed for additional fees. Your items get whisked away, but while you were struggling with the CashApp they have packed the truck andonce paid they are off like the wind. When yuodiscover that they left items behind that you clearly said were part of the additional ~ $900 moving fee (in our case) you call them only to have them tell you tough luck. Ten days pass and you wonder if they are really going to deliver and then - voila! - a call that they are delivering on X date. If you are not available on that date there will be a really unpleasant charge for the delay. Then comes another kicker: they tell you that their truck can't reach your neighborhood because of narrow streets and there will be an additional transfer charge of several hundred dollars. The funny part is that they won't be able to id who I am writing this, because they do it to so many people! Oh, and don't think that you can send them away when they reveal their scam, because they say that your estimate was only an estimate and they will keep your deposit of $thousands$.

Long-distance move from Burlington, KS to Lakeland, FL

Unprofessional and belligerent.

I had called to hire them if my house sold. I told him all I had was $5000. The house didn't sell so I found another way to come up with that amount of money ($5800). I called them (Rob) back to get the ball rolling again. "Hired" 1st thing he said, " it will probably cost $1200 more" a total of $7000.

Then "oh I will take care of you" them it is going to be this. Then he said it will be 5% more, & each time he had to go back and talk to a manager. I am not a Haggler. So I said I will think about it. & call you back. My brother called in the meantime and Rob kept blowing up my phone, wouldn't stop, so I sent a text that said cancel. This is what he text me next.

"Good luck ya fucking looney toon" because I didn't interupt my phone call with my brother to talk to him (Rob)

Very unprofessional.

The guys were outstanding!

From Sales to Operations to the actual movers. A very pleasant experience after some earlier, and not positive, movements with other companies. My house was moved like a smooth feather as i have really concerned about my kid's furniture as I just bought them 1 year ago and it was expensive. They listen to my instructions well and i am happily moved in my new house.

Long-distance move from Amarillo, TX to Waldorf, MD

Disappointment from Beginning to End

I originally coordinated this move with joe@venturevanlines.com to have my daughter's household goods (1 bedroom apartment) shipped from Amarillo TX to Waldorf MD. Although I now consider myself a very dissatisfied "victim" after the fact, I found the initial quote of $3876 acceptable. I had no issues during the original negotiations, even after an increase in total amount due, after I made pick-up date adjustments and decided to pay extra for (bubble wrapping, and 18 boxes, about $800 which the driver never provided, and told me to take it up with the broker). On the day of pick-up in Amarillo I received a call from the driver (who was very unprofessional, nonchalant, and downright rude), informing me that he might not be able to make the pick-up that day. My panicking calls and emails to Joe were unanswered, and on one call I got a recording that said, "the number out of service", or something to that effect (not sure if that meant my number had been blocked or not). I eventually spoke with Casey from HSG who assisted me with the final adjustments to the contract. She eventually worked to get the driver out that day (I pray that none of Venture employees ever have to experience a similar situation). I was charged $75 at the origin, and $100 at the destination for the movers having to go up one flight of stairs, and this fee, along with initial/final payments had to be paid before loading/unloading. The most surprising thing that really raised my frustrations to another level was, a couple of days after finally getting the delivery at the destination (48 days later, NO Exaggeration), I am reading the contract to understand my recourses and the contract clearly reads (no charge for the "first" flight of stairs), so I was taken going and coming "literally". Lastly, my daughters large screen TV, and stand were totally destroyed. I could go on but this whole experience is just one my daughter and I would like to be addressed so that I can put it behind.

Days late, items short

I travel for work so needed delivery when I knew I'd be home, which Venture promised. When the subcontractors picked up my stuff they said it would be delivered in "7-21 business days". I called/texted/emailed both Joe Collins and Kasey with Venture, but they ghosted me. Delivery came on a Tuesday with me out of town, not present to verify everything had been delivered. They lost/damaged over $1,000 worth of items, including my grandmother's antique chair. It took nearly 2 months to process the claim and they are offering me $135 so I am contacting an attorney.

Terrible experience

I had the absolute misfortune of dealing with Venture Van Lines LLC during my recent move, and I must say, it was nothing short of a nightmare. If I could give them a negative rating, I would.

First off, I made the decision to rent a truck and drive myself to save money on the move. However, I thought it wouldn't hurt to get a few quotes from moving companies, just to explore my options. That's when my ordeal with Venture Van Lines began.

Charlie from Venture Van Lines LLC called me, and he was incredibly persuasive. He assured me that their quoted price was final and wouldn't increase, despite my reservations about hidden fees. He even tried to convince me that their terrible reviews were for a different branch, and he showed me a website that apparently had no complaints about them whatsoever. Charlie's offer was $500 more than what it would have cost me to do it myself, but his smooth talking got the better of me.

I provided them with all the details about the items I needed to move, including pictures of some of them. Two days before they were set to arrive, Jack, another representative from the same company, called me claiming that I had more items than initially disclosed, and I needed to pay an additional $500 immediately. Frustrated and stressed, I reluctantly paid up.

But the real nightmare began when the truck finally arrived. They insisted on an additional $3,000 on top of what I had already paid, claiming that I had even more items than they initially thought. At this point, I had no choice but to pay up since it was the day I needed to vacate my house.

To make matters worse, the company was aware that I wouldn't have my new home for at least four more days, but they loaded my belongings onto the truck anyway. When I explained this to them, they simply hung up on me. On the day they were supposed to arrive at my new home, I tried calling to get an estimate of their arrival time, but they ignored my calls. The company even claimed they couldn't locate the driver and that his phone was off.

It took a grueling 10 days for them to finally get back to me and deliver my belongings. And to add insult to injury, many of my items arrived damaged. Plates were shattered, drawers were broken, and glasses were reduced to shards.

Venture Van Lines LLC is a company that operates with deceit and dishonesty at its core. Their promises of a fair price and reliability are nothing but empty words. Stay far away from this company if you value your sanity and your belongings. My move with them was a costly, infuriating disaster that I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy.

Extortionist! These brokers hire truckers to cart your stuff.

The truckers then extort you. The sales rep under represented the load. They brokered out to a third party and then after loading 1/3 of our stuff threatened to leave with our items if we didn’t pay 3x the original amount. The boxes arrived mangled and had been repackaged by another delivery service. I can’t believe this is allowed in the USA. Need better laws to protect innocent and unsuspecting consumers. We wound up paying 2.25X the amount we agreed upon.

Terrible job & service

Went to multiple companies for a quote. Venture wasn't the cheapest, but they were on the lower end. You get what you pay for.

It was a complete bait and switch. After showing up a day late to pick up my stuff, without so much as a call or e-mail, The cost estimate doubled once the guys actually came to pick up my belongings. He said I had "more than they quoted" but couldn't give me a reason why he said that. Just his estimate. I had no choice as I was leaving the next day, so I had to use them.

They estimated it would take 3-10 days to deliver my stuff. I have e-mails and texts to prove that. After day 5 I asked for an update. They said "we don't give updates normally, just the original quoted time". After pressing I was told they would be on the 10 day side of the quote.

After 9 days I asked for an update again. After some back and forth, I was told 5-7 more days. The driver said he told me it would take 21 days when I signed the contract. I have e-mails that say 3-10. I was NEVER told 21. That is a flat out LIE!!!!!

I have now had to cancel two work related trips to wait for this to arrive.

Do NOT use this company.

SCAM! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

I honestly have no idea how this company stays in business, they are by far and away the WORST company I have worked with. We booked with Venture Van Lines who brokered this out to some small company called Best Choice Moving, which must have been the cheapest option out there. I wrote a separate review for Best Choice as they were EQUALLY AS TERRIBLE as Venture. We booked with Venture at the end of March and at that point we were satisfied, but don’t be fooled. 2 days prior to our move date I had a “QA” call with someone from Venture where we went back through the inventory to get an accurate count. I was told that we had additional items and that our total cost would be $800 more than the original quote and they had us put down an additional deposit of $465 via check (more on that later). Venture Van Lines never sent this new contract to Best Choice Moving so when they showed up they only had room in the truck for the originally quoted amount. We already had no room in our car to take additional items so we had no choice but to throw away the items that Best Choice could not take, which amounted to ~$1,200 worth of our things. At this point I have called Venture Van Lines close to 10 times to get the additional deposit refunded and every time they tell me that they need to verify this with Best Choice Moving and their billing department. I’ve called Best Choice multiple times and they have never received any paperwork or any calls from Venture. Since I cannot get a straight story from anyone at Venture I then called my bank to dispute the charge, but since Venture charges via check by phone, there is no way to dispute the additional amount. THIS IS WHY THEY WON’T LET YOU PAY WITH A CREDIT CARD! So you can’t dispute their mistakes and are then giving them additional money!

This was the worst experience I’ve ever had working with any company and would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. How they have a single good review is beyond me, hence why all these 5-star reviews must be fake! Do not use them, they will overcharge you and then refuse to remedy the situation.

Bad Communication about my refund

I spoke with someone named Eric to booked an emergency move, upon speaking I told him the situation and and he informed me he had a truck that could get my stuff the same day. What he didn’t say was they were a broker and not the actual movers, when the movers contacted me they said a completely different day than what Eric said. I called him immediately and he said the truck he had got booked during our transaction. I told him I no longer needed the service because he said it would happen that day. He told me he sent the refund to the billing department and someone would reach out and nothing has happened. I requested a refund on the 4th it is now the 18th and haven’t heard anything from them. I never received the service so why it is taking so long to send my money back. I called the number it said disconnected, I called from my second phone and got someone. Am I blocked because I want my money?? I gave them over $1400, you didn’t provide a service so why would you want to keep someone’s money. I’m not understanding I asked to speak with someone from billing they told me I can’t speak with anyone. I don’t even do reviews but this is ridiculous. I’ve called they keep saying someone would call, I’ve emailed with no response. The lack of communication with this company is unbelievable...CAN SOMEONE MAKE IT MAKE SENSE. I’m starting to believe I got scammed and they took my money. WORD OF ADVICE DO NOT GIVE NO MONEY UPFRONT TO A BROKER MAKE SURE YOU SPEAK WITB THE ACTUAL MOVING COMPANY FIRST.

Terrible!!!

They were days late in picking up my things. They promised to deliver on July 2nd. It’s July 10th and I have no idea where my furniture and belongings are. Nobody will call me back. I’ve called every single day and I keep getting voicemail. They will not answer my calls and will not call me back. I have no idea if I will ever get my things back at this point.

When I spoke to the sales agent before I booked them he asked me how many boxes would I need. They arrived with no boxes at all. Just tape! They dropped my couch over my balcony. They didn’t even want to take all of my stuff. They triple charged me from what they quoted.

I will continue to put out reviews for this company until I get my things. I’ve contacted the better business bureau at this point. DO NOT USE VENTURE VAN LINES!! Terrible company and even worse Customer service!!!

Awful Experience

They are a Broker! And the moving company they hired to do our move (one they told me they use all the time S&M Relo) business's accreditation to the BBB was revoked! S&M Relo couldn't give me a delivery date. I called multiple times and they kept telling me that they would call me when our stuff was loaded. Venture Van kept telling me they would follow up and then wouldn't. We waited over a month for our belongings when we were quoted 5-10 days. The cost more than doubled by the time S&M Relo showed up to get our items. Then when we finally got our items (with a one hour notice that they were delivering that day, because they NEVER called when our items were loaded as promised) Multiple items were damaged. The company they brokered out to me has SO MANY awful reviews. I sent these reviews to my salesperson Nick as well as the customer service rep Leeann. Leeann told me that she'd been getting a lot of negative complaints about them (yet they still use them) and Nick responded and said that he had never received any bad feedback. When we hired Venture Van Lines, Nick told me that the company would deliver and reassemble all of our items, that was a lie. They wanted to dump all of our stuff in the garage instead. When we noticed a lot of sawdust in our boxes and dogfood in random places, the driver told us that our belongings had been kept in a BARN in Iowa! RUN away from this company, they will quote you a small amount and then when the ACTUAL movers show up, your cost will more than double! You'll wait a VERY long time for your items, the items will show up damaged, and you'll regret not just renting a UHaul!

Long-distance move from Groveport, OH to Sarasota, FL

DO NOT USE

I called multiple companies for a quote to move 3 bedrooms from Columbus, Ohio to Sarasota, FL. VVL wasn't the cheapest, but was on the low end. So this is exactly why you get what you pay for.

I was quoted $4250 which out them taking an exact measurement of all our stuff. After showing up a day late to pick up my stuff, the cost estimate doubled to $8000 once the guys actually came to pick up my belongings. He said I had "more than they quoted" at 750 CUFT. Supposedly it ended up being $1200 CUFT. This was a contracted by VVL and I had no choose on the actual moving company which was S & M RELO LLC in Columbus, Ohio. I would not use them either as they are worse than Venture Van Lines.

I did this on a Monday and was told that the delivery could be there by that Friday as we were driving down to meet the truck. I was told by a guy named Mike that Friday would be no problem all the while him then telling me later that ne never said that. They never once told me that it could take up to 2-4 weeks to get my furniture. If I was told this from the beginning then I never would have selected them.

After 7 days I still don't have my furniture and was told it's going to be $2000 to expedite the delivery. After calling them 5 days in a row now, I still don't have a delivery date or driver. I should have just got a U-haul like I was originally going to do.

This was a mistake from the start of the phone call. As I write this review, we still don't have our furniture. We are sleeping on air mattresses. Thanks Venture Van Lines.

Do NOT use this company. TRUST ME!!!

I booked with Erick Nick and Clay from S&M Relo movers several times. My HHG picked up on 22 June 2021 price increased over 3000 dollars. The movers dropped and broke things stated to me that's what the insurance is for. The contract does say they have 30 working days to deliver. However Erick and his co-workers insured me it would not take that long. Spoke with S&M Relo several times on my HHG, Nick from Venture Van lines told me to keep bugging them and we will try to get some one to help. Not happening all the way around. The total move is over 9000 dollars and, my HHG have been in a ware house in Iowa all this time. The fault is busy time of the year the pandemic. My 30 days ends on 10 August. HORRIBLE, SERVICES NOT RENDERED

The item to be shipped was a Peloton- treadmill. The man that showed up at our friends house was told it was a Peloton bike.

It was clearly communicated that the Peloton Treadmill was a Treadmill and NOT a bike. And that it weighed 300lbs. It was also requested and agreed with you via phone that this was a 3 man job.

It was also made clear that the Peloton Treadmill needed to be moved in ONE PIECE.

Day of incident:

A SINGLE man showed up at our friend's house (again, see earlier note about 3 laborers needed and not breaking down the treadmill)

The man thought he was picking up a Peloton BIKE.

The man tried to take apart the treadmill after the request was made clear to not have it broken down.

The man was not qualified to break down the Peloton treadmill, did not have the correct tools and under the direct supervision of the homeowner the man risked damaging the Peloton Treadmill.

In addition, the man did not arrive in a professional manner. He had a horrible odor and the lack of hygiene made the homeowners extremely uncomfortable. The man was asked to leave as he was not prepared for the contracted job, not equipped with the correct details, and had no knowledge/not qualified to take apart the treadmill.

we reached out to venture van lines with ZERO response and they charged us in full. They Pelaton treadmill was never shipped. Do not go with this company.

Do not use for interstate moving! Run away!

DO NOT GO THROUGH THIS BROKER FOR AN INTERSTATE MOVE. Please pay attention to these reviews. Most of the folks giving 5 stars have only 1 review tied to their Google profile. The ones with more have given proper ratings - notice a trend?

We contacted this company with a time sensitive move back in JULY. They assured us that our move from WA to TX would go smooth, and there would be no issues. The service in terms of closing the deal was great, and then it went all downhill from there. The moving company they contracted for us "MD Transportation Group LLC/World Class Moving & Storage" - (please look them up on BBB and you will see several of the same complaints of what I am going through) have been awful and rude. The police actually seized our storage unit that these movers put our belongings in due to reports of that company following fraudulent business practices. The movers wanted Our items have been sitting in a storage unit, in another state, since JULY. In between then I have been working with a Kasey/Casey (the only person who answers the phone when you call the number listed on google and responses have been all over the place. Venture Van Lines contracted this moving company for us and the service was not provided, yet has been horrendous in assisting or wanting to provide a refund for the initial deposit. We have a text message thread from Kasey/Casey in august stating that a refund was being processed, but when asked for a follow up or more proof then told that nothing has been submitted and she was busy with her child. While I understand we are in a pandemic, to rush me off the phone in such way is completely unprofessional when I have been sleeping on air mattresses for TWO MONTHS without our furniture, awaiting a refund of our deposit to come up with funds to get a moving truck and do it on our own. There only seems to be this one person who answers the phone, getting a hold of any manager is impossible. When asked who owns the company the answer given is "I don't know". There have been no attempts to show a processed refund, and much run-around to claim that I should be asking the DOT to go after the mover and they have no implications. They contracted this mover on my behalf, their T&C show " VENTURE VAN LINES LLC WILL ACT ON BEHALF OF THE CUSTOMER IN RESOLVING ANY CLAIMS OR DELAY ISSUES WITH THE CARRIER." yet they are not acting in the slightest way to help us. I feel scammed, not only by the movers themselves but by this company for selling me a peace of mind move and leaving me out to dry with no resolution so far. I will update this review if I get anywhere with them but please stay very far away from Venture Van Lines based on my experiences. Would not recommend them to anyone.

Horrific

Do not, I repeat, do not use this company. They screwed my wife and I out of a 1350.00 deposit. Even worse, they showed up the day of the move and said they could only take about a third of our belongings - unless we wanted to spend another few thousand dollars. Needless to say, they left us hanging with no movers and a closing to attend two days later - and it was 1000 miles away. They did not return our deposit of 1350.00. Crooks. SCAMMERS

Actually if you get a call from this scam company hang up ESPECIALLY SCOTT OR KASEY and save yourself the money they will steal from you. They are crooks, Kasey is the crook and Scott is the con man that will lie; manipulate the numbers and take you for your money. They send drunk, rude and threatening movers to try and bully you into paying them.

I Booked a move with them, their driver told me the price was going to be up when they get there that the price was too low. I rescheduled to make sure I could be there. After days of no response a new date was set.

The driver didn’t show up, no call no nothing. I spoke with Kasey the crook and Scott the con, and told them I wanted a new mover, asked for that or my money back. Kasey the crook refused this and re hired the driver who never showed up even after telling me “I don’t think he’s going to show up”

Not even an hour later the driver called me drunk telling me he wasn’t going to do the move, even though Kasey the Crook booked him again.

Next day they showed up randomly, smelling like alcohol and completely rude, aggressive and unprofessional. When asked about the just showing up and smelling like alcohol the movers cranked the price from $2100 to $3500 and demanded $1500 up front (already paid Venture $700) and left when I refused. Kasey the crook and Scott the Con won’t return any calls after I was told I would not be getting my deposit back. Even after being told the previous day I no longer wanted this company to handle the move, being told by Kasey she didn’t trust them and the driver calling me drunk. I’m out my deposit.

ABSOLUTE GARBAGE COMPANY.

FRAUD. TERRIBLE COMPANY DO NOT USE THEM!!! Entire business model is based on SCAMMING people. They will tell you whatever they need to for you to book but when it comes down to it they only care about the initial payment (They are a broker). After providing a list of items/dimensions they calculated what it would cost (including all fees) and when the movers arrived (3 days late), he had no idea what he was picking up and tried to tack on so many additional fees the price almost doubled on the spot. After many phone calls (and no one answering) I cancelled the move and Venture Van Lines refuses to provide me a refund. I was warned by others not to use them and I should have listened. THEIR "CUSTOMER SERVICE" IS A JOKE! This was the worst moving experience I've ever had. I highly doubt this company will survive much longer but do yourself a favor and book literally anywhere else.

Horrible service, unimaginably bad business practices

I contracted with Venture Van Lines for my move from Georgia to South Dakota. They then subcontracted to another vendor, which is standard procedure with a broker.

The company they outsourced to was absolutely beyond horrible, and Venture did nothing at all to try to help me remedy the situation. They had my money and they were done. They literally told me to call the local company myself. That is beyond poor business practice.

The worst part is that they never even mentioned a potential $750 "shuttle fee" that the local mover my charge. When the local mover arrived and said I had to pay it (after they had loaded my goods), I called Venture immediately. Jay in Dispatch told me that it was in the contract, and that's why they put that sort of thing in there, even though no one ever reads it. He then agreed to refund me $200 to help offset the fee (the local company supposedly offered $200 as well), and I agreed because again, I had to move and my things were already loaded. What's more, the contracts states that a shuttle fee may be applied if the moving company was unable to get an 18-wheeler within 75 feet of the door. They absolutely can do that here. They just didn't want to spend the money. The local company dispatcher actually said the words "I'm not going to send an 18-wheeler for that small of a move).

Venture didn't help me at all after my items had been picked up, when the delivery was late, and then very late (more than 2 months when I finally got my things), stopped responding to my inquiries about the $200 they had committed to me and that I've never seen, and when the local movers that Venture contracted with did show up, they had increased the amount due to cover the amount they'd agreed to discount when they loaded. I had items that were missing, that were broken, boxes that were crushed, and again....they were very, very late. And with all of this, nothing from Venture at all.

I guess if you're on the east coast and they happen to contract with a reputable vendor, and nothing at all goes wrong, they may be fine, based on other reviews. I would carry my stuff on my back before I ever did business with them again.

Long-distance move from Los Alamos, NM to Puyallup, WA

Cross country move

My mother used this company for her move from New Mexico to Washington. They contracted Genesis Van Lines from New Jersey. They have had her items for going on 80 days without an end in sight. Very poor communication from owner and driver. Rude on the phone when you finally can get them. Her estimate doubled the day they picked up her items as well. Venture Van lines states they can't do anything about it. Do NOT use this company.

Long-distance move from San Francisco, CA to Seattle, WA

Other reviews MUST be fake

Okay so I hired these guys a month and a half ago at NO point did they say they were a moving brokerage firm. In fact Nick who spoke quite extensively basically spoke as though they were a typical large moving company with their own network of movers. I was told I needed to pay a around a 40% down payment though an echeck service that honestly looked super ghetto. The red flags were there but everything he said sounded great. They said they take final payment same way basically and the final amount is owed based on the actual square footage used the quote was just an estimate. So come a day before my move some woman calls me who didn't really have the same professionalism but was nice enough. Then after she revised my packing list which I thought purely for the movers (Again he said they would know the amount after measuring the actual square footage needed) making sure they had enough space for me. She told me I needed to add $360 to my deposit, then pay 50% of the remainder on pick-up and 50% on delivery in cash or money order. I argued extensively because none of this matched anything he said. I also told her I was really bothered knowing this was a broker not an actual moving company as so many people warned me about bate and switch and I was like oh I saw tons of amazing reviews they seemed like a big network of moving trucks. Out of being confused and feeling trapped I agreed to pay the rest but not only that. My small studio move from SF to Seattle went from an estimate of $2600 to no joke $3700. I removed my bed and some large furniture and added some boxes. I thought for sure my quote would go down a few hundred. (The first quote they gave me was $2100). She confirmed my move on Saturday. Guess what it's now Friday evening and I haven't even been scheduled. In fact movers called me yesterday confused stating my move was Friday which I moved over 3 weeks ago to this weekend. I told Nick well over the required time that I would like to move Sat or Sun. The movers said they don't work Saturday so they can't do that. Guess what they still have yet to call me. I had to call my bank to see if I can report this as fraud (CAUSE IT FREAKING IS) and they said when you pay by the method of electronic check you can't reverse it and that's why they only use that method. So I've not lost my deposit of $1,000. Thank god I'm an over-planner and I already was in talks with a back up mover because I knew something was up. I'm going to request my deposit but assume it's never going to be seen again. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY ALL THE REVIEWS MUST BE FAKE. Check BBB and all other sites and you will see non stop 1 star reviews. I wish I looked deeper.
